Husky Technologies’ Trade Compliance team is globally integrated, supporting operations across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa, India), and APAC (Asia and Pacific) regions. The team, in collaboration with the Legal Department, establishes and monitors processes and policies that ensure Husky’s strict adherence to Export Controls and global Sanctions programs. We are seeking an Export Controls Specialist to join our Luxembourg office as a member of the EMEA team to increase regional compliance and support our global program objectives. Reporting to the Regional Trade Compliance Manager, you will support the Trade Compliance team in implementing and improving the Export Controls Compliance program within the EMEA region. Key responsibilities include conducting regulatory and transactional due diligence, promoting compliance awareness, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to classify products, manage data, and meet export control obligations. This role is pivotal in ensuring Husky’s ongoing compliance with global export regulations specific to the EMEA region.

Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance (EMEA Focus):

Stay up to date on export laws, regulations monitoring, and sanctions/embargoes in the EMEA region, ensuring Husky’s EMEA operations comply with all regional requirements.
Apply EMEA-specific export control laws and sanctions, ensuring regional operations align with global trade compliance standards.
Conduct internal audits of Husky’s EMEA export transactions to confirm full regulatory compliance; identify and address areas for improvement.

Classification and Core Duties:

Collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain to classify products according to relevant export control lists (EU dual-use controls list, Wassenaar Arrangement, etc.) to determine dual use or other export controls on Husky’s parts, such as ECCN for all transactions originating in or involving the EMEA region.
Support sanction ownership and denied party screening for all of Husky’s business partners and transactional parties (customers, suppliers/vendors, and financial institutions); Work with third party vendors to ensure software and configurations are maintained.
Manage and validate End-Use/End-User certifications (EUCs) for all Husky’s EMEA-based transactional business partners.
Distribute, collect, and store “Know Your Customer” (KYC) questionnaire document for all of Husky’s EMEA-based NEW business partners.

Licensing and Documentation:

Assess and determine the necessity of export licenses, including for re-exports. Prepare and submit applications to regional government agencies.
Maintain accurate documentation, including export declarations, licenses, and compliance certificates for EMEA transactions.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with Legal, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Sales teams to ensure EMEA alignment with export control standards.
Provide the internal business partners with any urgent updates and changes in trade regulations or our standard processes.
Liaise with EMEA regulatory government bodies, customs officials, and other relevant authorities.

Risk Mitigation and Due Diligence:

Perform due diligence and risk assessments specific to EMEA to ensure compliance with export laws associated with sensitive products and technologies.
Brainstorm strategies to minimize compliance risks and prevent violations and penalties within EMEA.

Qualification:

Educational Background: Degree in a relevant field, with a preference for scientific or engineering fields or equivalent experience.
Experience: 5+ years in export controls with a focus on regulations related to the EMEA region.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of EMEA-specific and global export control regulations, including those in the US and CA that impact EMEA exports, with CN, CH, and UK regulations as a plus.
Global Expertise: Experience working in multinational settings, providing guidance on international trade, sanctions, and export control matters.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate compliance requirements to non-technical internal and external business partners effectively.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Keen attention to detail, strong regulatory knowledge and interpretation skills, and an ability to make well-reasoned decisions.
Analytics Capabilities: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (client deliverable level Excel and PowerPoint experience); Able to conduct mass data clean up and ensure ongoing data management.
Language: Fluent in English, additional language skills considered an asset
